years of dA

Description

The day before yesterday I noticed that I'm about to hit quite an anniversary soon, so here's a compilation! Since as of today I've been a member of deviantArt for 10 whole years.

started with random... OCs I guess, though they never had a name or story or anything, I just wanted to draw anime style girls as best as I could. I also remember drawing lots of angels and demons that haven't been uploaded here, but some totally edgy middle schooler brain farts did end up getting online. There's also some Inuyasha art. That thing was probably the dark beginning of the weeaboo life I've lived until now, and the first work ever to get me into serious fangirl mode.

has very few works online so there's not much to say about my dA life back then. I'm fairly sure that my big shounen series phases went in the order Inuyasha - Naruto/One Piece - Fullmetal Alchemist, but apparently dA says that I was interested in drawing FMA earlier than Naruto.

is the year I got Flash and dress ups started seriously, thankfully with a subject as good as One Piece. Nowadays I enjoy going back to the first Nami dress up since it's so terrible, however disappointed I feel with my art at least I can say that there's been some progress.

sees the most Naruto fanart in my gallery. Those were dark times, but don't we all have that lame embarrassing thing you used to be a fan when you were younger...? The Naruto Character Creator is probably my least favourite work so far, not because of the subject but because the art is so hideous. And it's my most viewed work ever! Ugh! But as much as I dislike the series these days I have to say that it has one of the best character designs I know, and if I had a higher opinion on it I'd be really tempted to do a remake of the character creator. But that is really unlikely to happen, because based on what I've gathered everything I hated went for the worse. Also, still no regrets over the Hinata debacle, unless it's a prize or a commission I'm not compelled to please anyone with my works (though by now I doubt I'd care enough about her to hate her so much).

also had my first Pokemon work with the original Pokemon Trainer Creator, which I still like despite its technical shortcomings. I still remember how I was seriously hoping that nobody from school would find out that I had drawn Pokemon art (which they didn't, or at least didn't say anything about it). It's much better to be an adult in this regard when you can like what you want.

had a lot of Trinity Blood works. I wish to complete my TB dress up series one day with Caterina and Cain/Abel, but especially the Abel one has been on hold because I don't think I can still draw males well enough to do him justice. The TB outfits are so complicated and tedious to draw that I don't want to feel like the art is terrible one week after finishing.

was the year of my only OC Beta. It'd be cool if I could do something about her story, a lot of which I've forgotten by now, some day, but that's unlikely. But I did manage to draw some fairly decent art of her back in 2011, actually I feel like I may have gotten backwards in some ares...

was the debut of the Pokemon Princesses and the start of the Pokemon-ifying various characters, which as of now with dress ups has become the major thing for my gallery. Also plenty of clothing designs for the canon Pokegirls as well.

had some fairly impressive backgrounds. I feel like I've learned nothing in this department, obviously because I haven't practiced at all.

was... more Pokemon I guess. It really has invaded my gallery far more than I thought. I started doing these detailed biographies for the Pokemon Princesses which are a lot of fun, and I hope to be able to draw one for all of the "main characters" of the series before the art in Ariel's turns too badly outdated.

was yet again more Pokemon. Also, I feel like I finished a lot character creators this year. Which did come at the expense of the overall total amount of flash works. Smaller ones seem to be harder to make nowadays.

is a bit early to be in a compilation like this, but here it is anyway. The TMM creator may be my favourite out of the stuff I've made so far. One Piece has reared its head too and you should probably expect some more OP art in the future. And the Pokemon stuff continues steadily.

Whew, it has been a while. Onward to the... end of 2016 I guess, and beyond! Thanks to the watchers who have stuck with me all these years (and to new ones too)!
