Okay folks, story time!

When I was young I had this homemade dollhouse. The "main character" of my plays was quite a boring self insert Mary sue who liked the exact same stuff I liked. The main character's little sister was the annoying "villain" and ended up losing in some goofy way, and she liked everything I hated, such as pink and ponies. Her most favourite thing was my least favourite Digimon character, Daisuke. And boy did I hate she love him! To showcase her crazy extreme level fangirl love I wallpapered her room with Daisuke pictures, made a lot of Daisuke themed literature for her bookshelf, filled her drawers with other handmade Daisuke items, and made a clay doll of Daisuke for her to adore. In other words, I spent countless hours crafting Daisuke themed items for her, and I'm pretty sure I spent way more time hating on Daisuke than supporting all my favourite characters put together. And it was stupendously fun.

My preposterous hate came from the fact that I felt Daisuke was a cheap replacement of Taichi whom I rather liked, he threatened my beloved Takeru/Hikari pairing, and to me the show tried to force his awesomeness down my throat too much. Sure, in Digimon the goggle boy was always the most important character who was at the center of all promotional art, got most digimon transformations, laid the most impressive hit on the bad guys, got the bromance with the brooding guy if any etc, but they didn't try to get into way of my OTP! (plus actually I haven't even seen any other seasons than Adventure and 02)

Nowadays I still find him a cheap replacement of Taichi and his coolness to be forced (but I'm more secure with my OTP), but my burning hatred has mostly turned into fond memories of how fun hating him was. So, now that I've somehow remembered how much he meant to me I shall dedicate some non-mocking art to him. Ummm congrats Daisuke?
