Before you ask anything about my dress ups, please see if your question has already been answered in the F.A.Q. Thank you.I have a little problem with the
Pokemon Princesses project (princess characters from western animated movies as Pokemon trainers), and I thought crowdsourcing the reference might be easier than the trial-and-error method which has already caused some less than pleasant results.
For the project I of course need princesses to draw. Since I won't draw a character I don't know I have to actually watch the movie myself which can be dreadfully boring, but true art is suffering and all that. But still, it is pretty frustrating to suffer through a horrible or horribly boring movie only to find out that in the end it didn't even have any princesses in it and it was just a waste of time. I can find lists of "non disney princesses" on the DA for example, but many of the characters are not princesses at all and it's just the author slapping screen shots of random non-princess female characters to the same picture and calling them "princesses" anyway for a reason I probably will never understand.
(Not that there is anything wrong with non-princess characters, but this project has a theme and I'm not interested in drawing every possible animated female out there.)
So, if anyone could mention a princess I haven't drawn yet it'd be very cool. Currently I have a finished drawing of Irene (Princess and the Goblin) that was supposed to be in the same pic as Nancy and Tiger Lily, but she was left out when I noticed there were more Disney princesses I hadn't drawn yet. Now I'd need three or four more non-disney princesses to share a picture with her, since she most certainly isn't important enough to warrant a whole deviation only to herself.
The criteria1. A Western
2. animated
(one that really looks animation, not that cgi stuff that looks realistic enough to be real)3. movie
that has a character who is a
4. named
5. female
6. human
(or very human-like, like a fairy)7. princess, either by birth or marriage
(or in a relationship with a prince by the end of the movie).(The Mulan 2 and "Sofia the first" princesses are already almost finished.)
The princess really needs to fill all the criteria; "
technically X is not a princess/animated/human but she still needs love!!!" or "
X ALMOST married the prince but decided not to, but she was very close!" or "
X may not be a princess in the movie, but if you read a Chinese adaptation of the story the movie is based on backwards during a full moon you'll find out that her paternal great-uncle was a chieftain's illegitimate child so she should count as a princess!" are not enough.
If you ever do more non-Disney non-princesses, there's always Kayley from Quest for Camelot. (she's the daughter of a knight, and [spoiler] she herself gets knighted by King Arthur later in the film, so she's at least nobility o some sort.) There's also Marina from Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, who was betrothed to a Prince but ran away. And there's Astrid from How To Train Your Dragon, she's sort of dating the closest thing there is to a prince in that movie... I'm stretching, I realize.
Also, more non-princess heroines (though some of these are technically Disney): the girls from the Studio Ghibli films. There's Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Arriety, Ponyo, etc. I understand you probably won't ever do these though, since they're not Western animation, nor are most of them princesses (though Ponyo and Mononoke are, actually), but it would still be an interesting collection.
